Master copy and 5 issues

an example of the finishing touches to the zine, wrapped in cling film with an item of litter which would be different in each issue.
pages 8 and 9 showing multi media and collage

images which i have bled purposely and not to waste any white spacing.
master copy on show with the other 5 issues

to enhance the handcraft look to 'we spit on your feet' i have stitch binded the zine together.

changing the narrative 17.2.11

After looking back at the brief it clearly states that the zine must have a strong opinion and voice whhich in this case is me. At the moment i feel i have got too deep into the human aesthetics and characteristics and in effect have created a zine which dosent have much point to it and a moral.

Therefore i have took some more snaps of the birds this time looking more into the aggression and brutality when they are fed by us the public. I noticed that each type of bird have a group and all have their own way of getting to the bread.

This would be good as i can show the community of bird feeding in both points of view one from people who bird feed them and then whose who actually study the movements of the ducks, swans, geese etc.

Throwing bits of bread into the Brayford i witnessed the fighting and distress which the swans put them selfs through just to get to the food.

the images i took are quick and not in focus this is due to the constant movement i the water, however here is a snap of a flock of swans rapidly moving towards a bird feeder.

samples of my sketch book work up to 16.2.11

i have used a sketchbook to show my idea development as i fee it shows more of a story from start to end than simply just using paper or a layout pad.
below are the ideas i have so far which i intend to take forward.

i want to show a crime within my zine. For this idea i was thinking of having the death of some sort for example a pigeon and from that the narrative is then based around the murder attempting to find the cause of death.

Character based ideas for example above having some kind of don or mafia leader who is interviewed in the murder case.

To engage my audience of students and people in their late 20's i have used multimedia and attempted collages such as overlapping letters of bread packaging.

after class discussion on progress 13.2.11

positive feedback on ideas in sketchbook
need to do more in depth research into the target audience and
and continue to development a narrative for the my zine.

possibly thinking of having some kind murder of a pigeon, i want "we spit on your feet" to be like  a living nightmare for the customer and i want them to feel creeped out.

Wednesday 9 February 2011

Here is a screen shot of some photo development on adobe photoshop. In this example i simply used an image of some shrubbery and bushes where the ducks etc live and played around with different filters and hue/saturations.

The colours i have used have given depth and a twisted personality to this simple photo,
having such a simple tranquil community i want to turn bird feeding into some kind of bad experience which makes the veiwer seem vulnerable and insecure.

what i need to do now . . .

  get some more interviews.

more photography and interesting objects, also images from mags for drive and creativeness.

finish off my 3 planned zine proposals around 24 pages for each.

aiming for thursdays lesson 10.2.11

quick snaps for drawing out into my sketchbook

Here are roughly taken shots of the main character within "we spit on your feet"
i did this simply to get me starting to draw and get into the right frame on mind.
